Thursday morning more 20,000 residents woke up with no power in the wake of severe storms that tore through Mississippi and neighboring states Wednesday. The strong storms pack high winds that toppled trees, ripped off roofs and caused other structural damage. Downtown Jackson felt the impact. A massive oak tree toppled over onto the Governor’s Mansion. Another tree at Silas Brown and Congress Streets also succumbed to high winds. No injuries reported.
