Passion for radio and music has been part of Tommiea Jackson’s DNA for decades even if, as she states, talent evades her. But her other skills are undeniable. The virtuosities of the Jackson State University photographer include being an accomplished reporter, writer and cook. Tommiea is a graduate of Rust College and the University of Mississippi. She hosts the music program “Listen Up” Tuesdays during “Issues and images” on WJSU.

Patricia Mitchell, a native of North Carolina, and her family migrated to Mississippi in 2012 when she became Assistant Vice President of Development in the Division of Institutional Advancement at Jackson State University. Although she grew up with seven siblings, she and her husband have just one child, a 10-year-old son, born in the midpoint of her career. She balances the challenges of motherhood with instinctive roles as a coach, nurse, teacher and playmate. She co-hosts “Modern Moms” on “Cool & Current” WJSU Mondays during the news magazine “Issues and Images.”

Vicksburg native Melissa Faith Payne is interim general manager for JSU-TV at Jackson State University. She is pursuing her masters in communications at Mississippi College. The fitness fanatic and her husband, Eric, are parents of Myles, 5; Mason, 4; and Maxwell, 3. She co-hosts “Modern Moms” Mondays during the news magazine “Issues and Images.”

Jim Griffith is a 23-year business and personal financial expert. He helps individuals, government employees and organizations with retirement solutions and provides tax consultation. The former commander of the U.S. Army is a graduate of Jackson State University, where he was student body president. He hosts “Financial Portfolio” Thursdays during WJSU’s news magazine “Issues and Images.”

Elizabeth first came to WRKF as a host and board operator in 2002. Since then she has worked extensively in radio in Baton Rouge before heading south of the border to Mexico for two and a half years. She's thrilled to be home in Louisiana and back at WRKF. In her spare time she enjoys music, dancing, and talking to strangers.

LaToya Dennis joined WUWM in October 2006 as a reporter / producer. LaToya began her career in public radio as a part-time reporter for WKAR AM/FM in East Lansing, Michigan. She worked as general assignment reporter for WKAR for one and a half years while working toward a master's degree in Journalism from Michigan State University. While at WKAR, she covered General Motors plant closings, city and state government, and education among other critical subjects.
